September 24, 1933 - August 18, 2019
Ruby Nell James Knight, a lifelong resident of Sheridan, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on August 18, 2019. She was born in Stonega, VA, on September 24, 1933. She married her husband Lavon Knight on January 23, 1954 and had a loving marriage for sixty-five years.
She leaves behind her husband Lavon, two sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Caron Knight and James and Beth Knight; grandchildren Blake Knight, Krissy Knight Haga, Kelly Knight Stubbs, Todd Knight, and Celeste Knight; six great grandchildren Ethan Knight, David Haga, Madelyn Stubbs, Andrew Haga, Daniel Haga, and William Stubbs.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Bedford and Martha Failen James.
She enjoyed traveling back to the mountains of her birth, visiting with family and friends, however, nothing pleased her more than when her family met together for special occasions. Mrs. Ruby was also a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2019 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, LA from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will reopen Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am. with interment to follow at Knight Cemetery in Sheridan, LA. Elder Doyle Ball and Elder Tommy Hudnall will officiate.
