Obituary

Jerlean Bickham Barker
January 18, 1939 - July 04, 2019



“I will be your God throughout your lifetime until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you long and save you. Isaiah 46:4

On January 18, 1939 in Hayes Creek, Louisiana, God blessed the late Henry Bickham and Jessie Bickham with their fourth daughter, Ms. Jerlean Bickham. She was affectionately known by many as “Jert”. She departed this life on July 4, 2019 at the age of 80. At an early age, she joined the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.

She married Delois Barker and to this union one child was born. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Michael Anthony Barker of Franklinton, LA; six sisters, Rita Riley of Covington, LA, Rodah (Augustus) Magee of Franklinton, LA, Audrey Tate of Franklinton, LA, Mary (Frank) Bailey of Baton Rouge, LA, Rosa Franklin of Kansas City, MO, Deloris Rushing of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Mitchel Bickham of Compton, CA; and a host nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bickham; her husband, Delois Barker; four brothers, Johnnie Bickham, George Bickham, Henry Earl Bickham, and Elijah Bickham; two sisters, Algie Bickham Hart, and Joe Ella Bickham Barker.

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away”. Psalms 90:10
