Nathan Wallace Morgan
June 19, 1934 - July 21, 2019



Nathan Wallace Morgan, age 85 and a resident of Amite, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of July 21, 2019 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was born in the San Pedro Community of Washington Parish on June 19, 1934. He served in the United States Navy for four years in the nuclear division. After his service, he returned to Louisiana where he helped his parents on their dairy farm before marrying and buying his own dairy herd. Nathan also worked for Tarver Sales as a salesman and independent representative, selling hay equipment at dealerships and farm shows across the southeastern United States. Over the years, he benefited neighbors and local churches with the skills he learned in the Navy by wiring houses and buildings. Since retirement he has helped his son on the dairy farm and spent countless hours watching westerns and football games with his beloved grandchildren. Nathan was proud of being a “Paw Paw” and loved to talk about his grandchildren. He was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and the Sunday School Superintendent for many years.

Survived by: Wife of 59 years: Alma Reeves Morgan; Son and Daughter in law: Travis Morgan and Carol Ann Wales Morgan; Grandchildren: Daniel, Rebecca, Tyler, Jacob and Joseph Morgan; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Wilda C. Morgan, Lillian R. Barber, Louise R. Meyn, Michael and Susan R. Varnado, Clarence Reeves; Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alton Julius Morgan and Bertha Miller Morgan, siblings Ellzey J. Morgan, Josepha M. Jones, Derward W. Morgan, Johnnie Ruth M. Crowe, Travis W. Morgan.

Visitation will be at Canaan Baptist Church (18486 Sanders Road, Franklinton, LA) on Friday July 26th from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm Friday with Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
