What Has Washington Parish Government Done For You Lately?

The Washington Parish Council met Monday evening (June 10, 2019) and, in addition to taking care of routine matters, heard reports and comments that reflect what is being accomplished on behalf of the residents of Washington Parish. They include
  • installation of a generator for the Bogalusa Health Unit facility,
  • improvements at the Washington Parish Jail,
  • installation of a generator at the Washington Parish Animal Shelter and the hiring of a manager for the facility,
  • substantial amount of road improvements and maintenance across the parish. Areas identified include Roy Hart Road, Nathan Brumfield Road, Hennessy Road, Peterson Road, City of Bogalusa roads, Spurlock Road, Lee's Creek Road, Old River Estates, Buford Creel Road, Dollar Road, Green Tree Drive, Holland Brock Road, Chess Bankston Road, Bonner Creek Road, roads in the Bogue Chitto State Park, and other locations.
These accomplishments are only the ones mentioned for the month of May. We should also recognize that our parish government is debt-free, that the animal shelter was built without any additional tax requests to the residents of the parish, that we have had “clear” audits now for years, and Washington Parish finances are in great shape.
