March 17, 1947 - June 20, 2019
Jerry James Beard, age 72 and a resident of Lacombe, died Thursday night June 20, 2019 at Slidell Memorial Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. He was a Franklinton High School graduate in 1965 that soon after joined the United States Army and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. Jerry had a long career in construction as a talented carpenter and painter. He was always a jokester and self-proclaimed “funny man”. Jerry was loved by all that knew him and he always enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survived by: Wife of 40 years: Dara Hollard Beard of Lacombe; Son: Jeremy Beard of Lacombe; Daughter and Son in law: Brooke and David Laurente of Violet; 5 Grandchildren and a Spouse: Lindsey Beard, Kimberly and Jimmy Walters, Gabriel Laurente, Grace Laurente, Hope Laurente; Great-grandson: Austin Walters; 2 Sisters: Geraldine Mizell, Susan Doherty; Mother in law: Norma Hollard; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Malcus Beard and Grace Walker Beard, brothers Mitchell, Bobbie Earl, Larry and Michael, sisters Mildred, Nell, and Christine, father in law Jason Hollard and several other family members.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 10:00 am Thursday June 27th at High Praise Fellowship Church (60456 North Military Road, Slidell, LA) with Bro. Chuck Constant officiating. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in the Beard Cemetery on Pittman Road in Franklinton, LA.
