Rebecca Anne Sandifer Hartsfield

Rebecca Anne Sandifer Hartsfield, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away April 7, 2019 in Flower Mound, Texas, after a brief struggle with pneumonia. Rebecca, aged 78 years, will be missed dearly by all.

She was born in Bogalusa to Charles and Clytee Sandifer on December 1, 1940. She attended Bogalusa High School and graduated, receiving her hard-earned diploma in 1958. In winter of 1960, she married the love of her life, Wheeler A. Hartsfield, Jr.. Soon, Rebecca and Wheeler moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and started a family with their sons, Leigh Adair Hartsfield and Blair Duane Hartsfield. Over the years, Wheeler and Rebecca moved to Alabama, then returned home to Baton Rouge to retire. Before Rebecca passed on, Wheeler and Rebecca celebrated their 59th anniversary in January 2019.

Rebecca quite enjoyed music. She could always be found singing to her heart’s content or tapping away unforgettable melodies on the piano and pump organ. Often times, she would sit at the piano, singing and playing at the most random of times… in mid-morning, or the afternoon, sometimes even after the neighborhood was fast asleep. She also found herself loving ceramics, painting, camping and traveling, as well as spending time with her family.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clytee; son, Leigh Adair Hartsfield.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Wheeler A. Hartsfield, Jr. (Bud) of Flower Mound, Texas; son, Blair Hartsfield; two granddaughters Heather and Holly Hartsfield.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana on April 13, 2019 at 9:30 am. Funeral service will be held at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home on April 13, 2019 at 11:00 am with Reverend Clay Norwood of Superior Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Burial
will follow at Ponemah Cemetery, Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
