Obituary

David Lamar Stewart
May 29, 1941 - April 12, 2019



David Lamar Stewart, 77, was called to his heavenly home April 12, 2019. He passed with family and friends by his side at home in Bogalusa, LA., after a lengthy illness.

He was one of twelve children born to Estelle and Talmadge Stewart of Bogalusa, LA., on May 29, 1941. Lamar, a mechanic by trade, worked for C. A. Stewart’s Dairy until he pursued his vocational teaching degree and taught at Northshore Technical College. He later continued as an instructor and retired from Rayburn Correctional Institute. Lamar was a longtime committee member of IHC Chapter 31 and was an avid collector of antique tractors. He also was a board member of 7th District Fire Department and a Master Mason, with 50 plus years, in the Zona Masonic Lodge in Enon. Lamar was a faithful member of Pettit Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Crain Sheridan Stewart, Mother-in-law, Idell Crain; daughter, Debbie (Wade) Magee; Step sons, Bruce (Deidra) Sheridan; Kenny (Sandra) Sheridan and Paul Sheridan; Grandchildren Amber (Chad) Burge, Adam Magee, Matthew Sheridan, Chase Sheridan, Maria Sheridan, Austin Jenkins, Jennifer Williams; Great-Grandchildren Kailee and Kinlee Burge; Siblings Howard (Linda) Stewart, Janice Bedwell, Elaine (Rick) Buras, Sylvia Forbes, Rita (Buddy) Jenkins, Robert (Diane) Stewart, Marion (Dennis) Galloway, Boady (Kelly) Stewart, Emelda (Mike) Hunt, sister in law Judy Stewart; and loved as family, Logan Morrison and Jackie Walker.

Always willing to lend a hand, he was well loved by his large family and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Talmadge Stewart, brothers Dewitt and Jeffery Stewart, brother in law Junior Bedwell.

Visitation will be April 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 Pm at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, where the Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 16, 2019. Interment will be at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
