Obituary

Loyd Ardel Spencer
December 31, 1939 - April 18, 2019



Loyd Ardel Spencer, age 79 and a lifelong resident of the Enon Community, passed away early Thursday morning April 18, 2019 at Carrington Place in Baton Rouge. He graduated from Enon High School in 1958 and later became a marine electrician, working for Empire Machine Works for nearly 40 years before retiring. He was a Mason for 55 years and a member of the Franklinton Masonic Lodge #101. He was a longtime board member and caretaker of Spencer Cemetery near his home. Loyd enjoyed growing watermelons that he later sold throughout the area. He always loved visiting with people, even those he had just met, because he never met a stranger. He also enjoyed squirrel hunting and spending time outdoors.

Survived by: Wife of 37 years: June P. Spencer of Franklinton; Daughter and Son in law: Greta and Kevin Frelich; Daughter: Ruby Roth and Janette Guillot; Daughter and Son in law: Kim Arlene Spinner and Willie Spinner; Sister: Glen S. White; Also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Albert Spencer and Lela Miley Spencer and former wife Linda Anglada.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Spencer Cemetery at 2:00 pm Wednesday April 24th. A masonic rites service will begin at 2:00 pm Wednesday followed by the funeral with Rev. Leon Hickman officiating.
