Robert Lea Smith
August 17, 1952 - January 26, 2019



Robert Lea Smith, age 66 and a resident of Franklinton, died shortly after midnight Saturday January 26, 2019 at his home. He was raised in Kenner, LA and was a 1970 graduate of East Jefferson High School before living in Metairie for many years. Rob was a surveyor and worked for different companies through the years before creating Rob Smith Field Services. He and his company worked exclusively in the planning, surveying and development of Lakeshore Estates in Slidell, a project that he took tremendous pride in. Rob moved to Franklinton in 2006 where he began working on his property and house to get it just the way he wanted. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and going camping when he could. Rob was a New Orleans Saints and Pelicans fan and he even helped his wife make pottery for her business.

Survived by: Wife: Maggie McCaffery Smith of Franklinton; Sons and Daughters in law: Joshua Smith and Kristy Perrin Smith of Rio, LA, Elijah and Jessica Tate of Crestview, FL, Adam Tate of Hattiesburg, MS; Daughters and a Son in law: Jessica and Clement Lea of Baxterville, MS, Rachel Tate of Bogalusa; 8 Grandchildren: Louise, Thomas, Victoria, Noah, Nathan, Hannah, Cameron, Lily; 2 Brothers and Sisters in law: Jim and Donna Smith of Houston, TX, Steve and Sharon Smith of Metairie; Sister: Edna Kendrick of Buford, GA; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his first wife Deborah Parris Smith and parents Robert Lloyd Smith and Willard Nelson Smith.

A memorial service for family and friends will be planned at a later date.
