James Alvin Culpepper
October 25, 1935 - June 12, 2018



James Alvin Culpepper, a longtime resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his residence in Bogalusa, LA at the age of 82. He was born on October 25, 1935.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1968 he began working at Bogalusa Lumber Company and 10 years later, on April 1, 1969 he became the owner and operator of Bogalusa Lumber Company. He was a Gideon and also a member and deacon at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lena Culpepper; his three sons, Joe (Ann) Culpepper of Bogalusa, La, Steve (Tomi) Culpepper of Bogalusa, LA, and Ricky (Marsha) Culpepper of Bogalusa, LA; one brother, Lamar (Maria) Culpepper of Strolling Hills, CA; seven grandchildren, Jenny (Dusty) Stewart, Michael (Jordan) Culpepper, Shelby (Savanna) Culpepper, Will Culpepper, Laken Culpepper, Colt Culpepper, and Josh (Megan) Herndon all of Bogalusa, LA; and four great-grandchildren, Judson Herndon, Colby Stewart, Katey Stewart, and Braden Culpepper.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Bertha Culpepper and one brother, Joseph L. Culpepper.
Services for Mr. Culpepper will be on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. and continue until the funeral service begins at 3:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Keith Sheridan and Rev. Dennis Allen will officiate.
