Bogalusa Police Lands Identity Theft Suspect After 6 Years

On Monday (June 18, 2018), the Bogalusa Police Department was notified by the Baton Rouge Police Department that they had in their custody, Pamela Reams (46) of Baton Rouge, who is wanted in Bogalusa on three active felony warrants for Theft of Identity.
In 2012, the BPD Detective Division was involved in an extensive investigation about identity theft and counterfeiting of checks that involved multiple law enforcement agencies within the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Texas that involved multiple victims. It also included the Louisiana State Police and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Department. Three of the victims were from Bogalusa. During the course of the investigation it was determined that each of the victims had made payments to the LSU Hospital system by check. Counterfeit checks were written on the victims' checking accounts in Destin, FL, Foley, AL, and Pass Christian, MS for a total of $4,637.43.
It was suspected that Pamela Reams, an employee of the State Hospital’s billing system, obtained  customers' personal banking information and used this information to fabricate checks and identification cards. The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the Louisiana State Police Identified and arrested three other suspects back in 2012: Lisa Haynes, Meashune Wilson and Valencia Smith, all of Baton Rouge.
Reams was transported to Bogalusa where she was charged and booked on three counts of Identity Theft.
