Off-Duty Slidell Police Officer Saves Elderly Lady

Slidell Police Officer Dennis Neyland is being called a hero. Officer Neyland, while off-duty on
Wednesday (May 9, 2018), apprehended a suspect who had just kidnapped and robbed an 83-year-old lady. Officer Neyland put his life in danger, and potentially saved the life of this elderly lady.
Baton Rouge Police reported that,with the assistance from an off-duty Slidell Police officer, they  apprehended a kidnapping/robbery suspect around 2:05 pm Wednesday. BRPD initially responded to a dispatched call of a man fighting a female in the 400 block of Laurel St. Upon arrival, police assisted the off -duty police officer in restraining Tamikia Raymond (42).
Raymond reportedly kidnapped a 83 year-old victim from a local parking garage at gunpoint and forced her to drive to a local bank to get money. The off-duty Slidell Police officer noticed that the victim was in some type of distress and asked her if she was in need of some assistance. After realizing the victim was in need of help, the officer confronted Raymond and a struggle ensued until police arrived.
Raymond was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with Armed Robbery, False Imprisonment with a Dangerous Weapon and Battery on a Police Officer.
