Obituary

Frances Yvonne Rushing
April 16, 1938 - September 17, 2017

On April 16, 1938, the late Ted and Waver Rushing gave birth to their third child in Tylertown, Mississippi and gave their beautiful baby girl the name Frances Yvonne Rushing. Yvonne, better known as Tee was one of a kind possessing an abundance of energy and personality. Her aunts, uncles and cousins played a vital role in instilling strong family values in which Tee continued to display until her death on September 17, 2017.
After the death of her mother at the age of three, Tee moved to the small community of Clifton, Louisiana where she was reared by the aunt and uncle, Pearlie and Mattie Lee Harvey. In her early childhood, she was known as the feisty little red head around the Cucumber Shed. Tee worked alongside her cousins helping with the family farm. She attended Bethel School and later attended Washington Parish High School. While attending school, she enjoyed being with friends, loved attending the basketball games to watch her big brother James play and was known throughout the halls for taking up for her big sister Mary.
She accepted Christ at an early age and actively attended Lear Hill COGIC. In her later years, she became a member of the family church, Magee’s Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Supt. Monroe Magee. With the desire to experience life outside of Clifton, she met and married her late husband, Frank Chandler of Bastrop, LA. In this union seven children were born.
In 1965, Tee moved from her home in Bastrop and returned to Franklinton with the mindset of being the best mother to her young children. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Tee was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and any words of advice to anyone that would listen. Advice was given on a regular basis, once her loving grandchildren arrived. A three=weeks old, Tee took in and raised her oldest grandson as one of her own.
Tee’s legacy continues on through the lives of her 7 children - Alvin Chandler, Frank Chandler, Jr., Robin Chandler, Beverly Chandler, Roney Chandler all of Franklinton, LA; Ora Chamberlain of Conyers, GA, and Roddrick (Danielle) Gains of Chalmette, LA. She had 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves six siblings, Mary Causey of Franklinton, LA; Alice Faye Duncan, New Orleans, LA; Geraldine Alford, Harvell Harvey and Larry Harvey of California; and Pearlean Sims of Hampton, GA. Her memories will also be cherished by a sister-in-law, Vernell Rushing of Franklinton, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Waver Rushing, aunt and uncle Pearlie and Mattie Lee Harvey, one son, Calvin Chandler and brother James Rushing.
