Bogalusa Council Facilitates General Dynamics Expansion

At a noon meeting of the Bogalusa City Council Monday (September 11, 2017), Washington Industrial Development Foundation Director Ryan Seal spoke in favor of an ordinance that facilitates the expansion of General Dynamics that will mean an additional 200 jobs and make them the largest employer in the parish with over 900 employees. General Dynamics has been a tenant in the Industrial Park since 2013 and approval of the ordinance will extend the current lease to 2023. The City will be expanding parking for General Dynamics and will make “cosmetic” improvements to the facility's interior.
In other business, the Council approved three resolutions, introduced six ordinances that will be considered for approval at their next meeting, and approved two other ordinances after holding Public Hearings. Council actions facilitated the acquisition of a new fire truck and improvements at the airport, improvements that will initially be paid for by the City who will be reimbursed entirely by grant funds.
