Former Employee Robs Slidell Truck Stop

A former employee of the Travel Centers of America truck stop (1682 Gause Boulevard) didn’t disguise himself well enough Sunday night (August 13, 2017), after pulling off a robbery. 
Clarence Burkett (28) of Slidell tried to disguise himself with sunglasses and a hoodie when he demanded the cashier give him all the contents inside of the cash register. She did and he fled, but was caught about an hour later at a local Slidell motel. Burkett tried to flee again but the presence of K-9 Scout changed his mind.
Officers located evidence of the robbery inside of the motel room, and placed Burkett under arrest for Simple Robbery. Burkett is currently on probation for a previous theft charge, and has an extensive criminal history.
