Bogalusa Police Arrest Justin Mark for Shooting on Nov. 21st

In the early morning hours today (December 16, 2024), Officers with the Bogalusa Police Department were informed by an anonymous source that Justin Mark was seen entering an apartment located in Sunset Acres (Union Point). Officers responded, came into contact with Mark, and he was taken into custody after a brief struggle. A search warrant was obtained for the apartment where three guns, illegal narcotics, and an amount of money, believed to be proceeds from drug transactions, was located and seized. 

Mark was known to have felony warrants stemming from a shooting that occurred in the 1700 block of Dolly Avenue on November 21, 2024.

On November 21, 2024, the BPD had responded to shots fired and Officers located numerous shell casings in the area as well as a vehicle that had been hit by gunfire. It was learned that 22-year-old Justin Mark fired shots in the direction of at least three victims. Mark then fled the scene as a passenger in a vehicle along with 21-year-old Carlos Interiano as well as another passenger, 24-year-old Damien Thomas. Arrest warrants were obtained for all three subjects on numerous felony charges. Interiano was located and arrested on November 23, 2024. Damien Thomas is still wanted.

Mark was transported to the Bogalusa Police Department and then to the Washington Parish Jail where he was booked on the charges of Aggravated Assault/Drive-by Shooting, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities, Convicted Felon in Possession of Firearm (4 counts), Resisting a Police Officer With Force or Violence (6 counts), Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule 1 Drugs, Tampering With Sign Identifying a Firearm-Free Zone (3 counts), Possession of CDS With Weapon Present, Transactions Involving Proceeds From Drug Offenses, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Damage to Property Under 1000, and Criminal Trespass. Murder Suspect & Hammond Robbery Suspect Arrested in Pike County, MS

On May 20, 2020, the Pike County Sheriff's Office, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Recovery Task Force arrested Austin D. Cole, aka Rell, last week (May 20, 2020) for the murder of Raheem Brown.

Law Enforcement Officers have relentlessly pursued Cole since the murder on April 12, 2020. Cole was arrested without incident on Summit Drive in Lincoln County, MS, while a passenger in a gray 2017 Nissan Maxima.

During the investigation, officers learned that some individuals were assisting Cole evade authorities. Also arrested for Accessory After the Fact of Murder were Angelica "Jelly" Chapman, Justin J. Monley, Fransheka L. Mark, and Quardavion T. White.

Monley was also booked into the jail for Possession of Controlled Substance Enhanced by the Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. White was also booked into the jail for an active warrant from the Hammond Police Department for Robbery.

Bogalusa Police Charge 4 in Drive-By Shooting

On Tuesday (April 16, 2019) at 4:24 PM, the Bogalusa Police Department received a call about the occupants in two different vehicles firing handguns at each other on East Sixth Street. The vehicles were gone when officers arrived.

Witnesses stated that they observed a black car driven by a subject known as Justin Mark and that Mark fired multiple rounds from a handgun at another vehicle while a passenger in Mark's vehicle had a firearm in his hand. According to witnesses, the occupants in the other vehicle returned fire at Mark's vehicle.

While officers were searching for the vehicles involved, Mark's vehicle was observed traveling on New Orleans Street. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with the driver and two other occupants. BPD reports that the vehicle was driven by Yamarai Brumfield and the two occupants were identified as Shamar Berry and Kenyate Harrington. Justin Mark was not observed in the vehicle. The driver granted permission for officers to search the trunk of the vehicle and officers found Justin Mark hiding in the trunk behind a speaker box. Mark was escorted from the vehicle and placed under arrest.

In the trunk where Mark was hiding, officers located two baggies of suspected marijuana, a digital scale and a fully loaded .40 caliber magazine for a handgun. When officers searched Mark, six rounds of .40 caliber ammunition were located in his clothing. During the search of the vehicle, officers located 79 unspent .40 caliber bullets, 20 unspent 9mm bullets, and  two fully loaded handguns.

Brumfield, Berry and Harrington were also arrested and, along with Mark, transported to Bogalusa City Jail for booking. Upon arrival at the Bogalusa City Jail, officers located a clear baggie of suspected cocaine in the police car where Mark was seated.

Yamarai A. Brumfield (23) of Bogalusa was booked on the charges of Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while in the Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Accessory After the Fact of a Drive by Shooting and Possession or Carrying of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

Kenyate R. Harrington, Jr. (17) of Bogalusa was booked on the charges of Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while in the Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Accessory After the Fact of a Drive-By Shooting.

Shamar T. Berry (17) of Bogalusa was booked on the charges of Illegal Carrying of a Weapon while in the Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Accessory After the Fact of a Drive-By Shooting.

The other vehicle that was involved in this incident was not located but the investigation is still ongoing.
