Joyce Rose McCain 

August 7, 1935 – May 29, 2026

Joyce Rose McCain, age 90 and of Sandy Hook, MS, passed away Friday, May29, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born in Franklinton, LA to the late Eptha A and Annette Kennedy Tynes. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Buchanan “Buck” McCain, siblings, Eptha Alton Tynes, Jr. and Ola Faye Tynes, sister-in-law, Maxine Boone Tynes, brother-in-law, Frank Strickland. Along with a host of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her son, Ned A McCain (Darlene); daughter, Melba Gerald; grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Gerald (Shaun Fortenberry), Brandon Keith Gerald (Stacy), Russell McCain, and Teneal McCain Kennedy (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Carlie Fortenberry (John Paul Lambert, Jr.), Emma Claire Kennedy, Austin Buck Gerald, Titus McCain Kennedy, Annie Magee Gerald, and Anderson Brandon Gerald, great great grandchild Blakelynn Grace Lambert, sister, Jo Ann Strickland; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loving family.

Mrs. Joyce was a hard worker who fully retired at the age of 82 after spending 20 years working at Walthall General Hospital and moving on to Camelia Healthcare for another 20 years. She enjoyed working in her yard, playing dominoes, watching game shows on TV, crocheting, and taking care of her cats. Mrs. Joyce was a wonderful cook even though she did not enjoy it; she always made sure that if you came by you had something to eat and were taken care of. Her hospitality was not just restricted to people that came by, she also enjoyed taking care of animals.She was a kindhearted, thoughtful, loving individual who will be missed by all that knew her.

Pallbearers will be Mike McCain, Mark McCain, Jonathan Kennedy, Shaun Fortenberry, Randy Strickland, and Jeff McCain. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McCain, Horace Seals, Daniel Ford Turnage, Larry King, Glenn King, and Wayne Taylor.

Visitation for Mrs. Joyce will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 form 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 12:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Carson Springs Baptist Church, 10 Thad Road, Sandy Hook, MS 39478. Bro. Carl Dickens and Bro. Bo Walker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carson Springs Cemetery.
