Walter Earl Smith, Sr.

December 27, 1944 - August 6, 2025

Walter Earl Smith, Sr., age 80, passed away at Lakeview Hospital in Covington, LA. Mr. Smith was born and raised in Washington Parish and a graduate of Mount Hermon High School. He is best known for his love of automobiles; both classic, muscle, and new. Mr. Smith worked as a mechanic the entirety of his life, and his success in working shined a light of his passion.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, whom he married in 1974: Mrs. Ruth Smith; three sons: Walter “Earl” Smith, Jr., (Christa), Robert Earl Smith (Tara), and Jeffery Jarrell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty Sue Smith; and four brothers: Ben Smith, Bobby Smith, Michael “Mike” Smith, and Billy Smith.

He was preceded in death by one son: Byron Jarrell; two daughters: Regina Singleton and Charlotte Jarrell Branch; and his parents: Clyde and Gladys Smith.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. Visitation will start at Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 10AM until time of service at 2PM. Interment will immediately follow at Old Gerald Cemetery in Pine, LA. Bro. Harold Gaddy will officiate all services.
