Leverette Stanley Bailey

March 18, 1954 - July 24, 2025

Leverette Stanley Bailey passed away July 24, 2025 at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, on March 18, 1954, to his parents, Dorothy and Stanley Bailey. 

Leverette attended and graduated Bogalusa High School with the Class of 1973 and later graduated from Sullivan Vocational School with an automotive degree. He was a Cub Scout and later a Boy Scout with Pleasant Hill Troop 86. Leverette loved playing little league football with the Pleasant Hill Association. 

He attended First Baptist Church Bogalusa as a young boy where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was later baptized in his wife’s home church, Plainview Baptist. 

Leverette worked off shore with Texaco retiring after 15 years of service. He then worked in construction building houses with Lane Hughes and on fiberglass boats for Benji Nevers. 

Leverette is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ellen Mizell Bailey; one son Dustin Stanley (Megan) Bailey; one granddaughter, Natalie Claire Bailey; one sister Janice Bailey Crain; and one brother Charles Edward Bailey. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Beth Mizell; brother-in-law Ronnie (Sharon) Mizell; and sister-in-law Kaye Mizell (Danny) Robins. 

He is preceded by his parents, Dorothy and Stanley Bailey; daughter, Bridgette Lorraine Bailey; grandson, Grason Chandler Bailey; sister Lauren (Seedy) Miller; Grandson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Arvelee and Kathleen Mizell; brother-in-law, Bob Mizell, and nephews Matt Robins and Toby Miller. 

At Leverette’s request a graveside service will be Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery, 55179 LA-60, Bogalusa.
