Odies Jenkins

July 24, 1935 - May 21, 2025

Odies Jenkins, age 89 and a resident of Hattiesburg, passed away Wednesday morning May 21, 2025 at Forrest General Hospital. He was born in Franklinton on July 24, 1935 and was a former longtime resident of Gulfport. Odies worked in construction for many years and later bought and sold items for the public. Most recently, he worked alongside his son remodeling houses for several years. He loved listening to his favorite country music and sitting out by the pool in the backyard. Odies always enjoyed the family vacations to Destin, FL, spending time watching the boats pass through the harbor.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Joe and Marianne Jenkins of Hattiesburg; 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Debbie and John Hadley of Lafayette, Teresa O’Bryant; Grandchildren and Spouses: Misty and Sean Glen, Joey and Jesse Jenkins, Jeremy Jenkins, Justin Jenkins, Avery and Alison Hadley, Jody and Cala Hadley, Jason and Amy Hadley; Great-grandchildren: Aden, Caroline, Asher, Maxwell, Genevieve, Kayden, Asher, Noah, Elijah, Russ, Drew, Emma Kate; Brothers in law: T.C. O’Bryant, James O’Bryant, Tom O’Bryant, David Lewis, James Holden and their families; Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, their families and many cousins

He was preceded in death by his son Mitch Jenkins, an infant daughter Lema Sue Jenkins, wife of 65 years Genelda O’Bryant Jenkins, parents Rob Jenkins and Bessie Thomas Jenkins, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) Friday May 23rd from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Saturday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery near Tylertown.
