Franklinton Man Charged in Death of Bogalusa Man

The Bogalusa Police Department has charged Raymond McClain (49) of Bogalusa with Vehicular Homicide in the death on June 1, 2018 of Roderick D. Mark (49) of Bogalusa. Responding officers found McClain (the driver) still in the overturned vehicle wearing his seat-belt. Officers reportedly detected an order of alcohol inside the vehicle. McClain stated that he had a passenger with him but there was no passenger in the vehicle. Officers located Mark unresponsive in a ditch near the accident scene.
Both the driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to Our Lady of Angels Hospital, where Mark was pronounced dead. McClain was later airlifted by a medical helicopter to Lakeview Medical Center in Mandeville for precautionary reasons. McClain was medically cleared and released from Lakeview Medical Center, transported back to Bogalusa by a BPD Detective, and given a field sobriety and a breathalyzer test.  The breathalyzer test determined that McClain was over the legal limit of alcohol consumption to be driving a vehicle. In addition to Vehicular Homicide, McClain was charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
