In a brief ceremony held February 1, 2021 at the entrance to Franklinton Elementary School, Section Line Road was renamed Dr. James Stafford Drive. See video of the ceremony below. The event was attended by Town of Franklinton officials and family and friends of Dr. Stafford.
Mayor Greg Route expressed his thanks to Mrs. Lillian Stafford and read some of the accomplishments of Dr. Stafford. Dr. Stafford (pictured right) was a very well-respected education leader in Franklinton, Washington Parish, and the State of Louisiana. He passed away August 1, 2020 at the age of 87. The Franklinton Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved the honor at their meeting on January 26, 2020 following a Public Hearing on the Ordinance.
