Obituary

Iris Dillon Odom

September 21, 1939 - February 3, 2021

Iris Dillon Odom, age 81 and a resident of Thomas died Wednesday February 3, 2021. She was a longtime active member of Stateline United Pentecostal Church that was well-known in her community for her beautiful rose and dahlia garden, which she entered into display at the Fair each fall and won several First Place and Best In Show ribbons. She also grew delicious tomatoes every year. Iris worked as a seamstress at Rutter Rex for many years and loved to make quilts for her family and crochet. She loved her car and always enjoyed riding around her community. Iris adored her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Anthony and Jo Jo Odom of Thomas; 5 Grandchildren: Brianna Odom, Nicholas Odom, Jayden Odom, Taylor Odom, Mollianna Odom; Sisters in law: Jo Dillon, Marilyn Dillon both of Thomas, Nelda Penton of Franklinton, Bonnie Dillon of Angie, Elaine Odom of Graham, TX, Ladonics Sharp of Pine; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years John W. Odom, Jr., parents Broxie Eugene Dillon and Tena Farlow Dillon, sisters Nelda Dillon, Evelyn Dillon Bates, Eloise Dillon, brothers Vincent Dillon, Silas Dillon, Paul Dillon, David Dillon, father in law and mother in law J.W. and Margie Odom, brothers in law Pete Odom, Tommy Odom, Robert Odom and niece Melissa Dillon.

Visitation will be at Stateline Pentecostal Church (494 Simon Road, Tylertown, MS) on Friday February 5th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Saturday. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Brandon Wilkins, Rev. Bryan Bates, Rev. W.L. Tullos and Rev. Mike Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her home health nurse for many years Adrian O’Bryant, and to all the families and friends that helped her through the years.
