The Walthall County Sheriff's Department reports that on February 21, 2021 they received 911 call reporting a person deceased at 02 Brandon Bay Church Road, Tylertown, Mississippi. Walthall County Deputies, Investigators, and AAA ambulance service responded and after arriving on the scene, Mona James was pronounced dead.
Keith Penton of Tylertown has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, and will have an initial hearing in Walthall County Justice Court.
Sheriff Kyle Breland commented, “We appreciate the response of our Deputies, Investigators, and AAA ambulance service. We would like to thank all agencies for their assistance including, Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and their Crime Scene Unit, Pearl Police Dept, Walthall County Coroner, and the District Attorneys Office. Our prayers are with the families involved in this tragedy,.”
