Norbert "Buddy" Galivan

June 6, 1939 - December 15, 2020

Norbert "Buddy" Galivan, age 81, passed away Tuesday December 15, 2020 of complications from pneumonia. He was a longtime resident of Franklinton, where he served the Postmaster for the U. S. Post Office before retiring in 1991. Buddy was a devoted Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a proud member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he served from 1958 to 1964.

He is survived by his daughter, three sons and their spouses: Christine and Byron Tims of Chalmette, John and Aniko Galivan of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, Norbert, Jr. and Dana Galivan of Slidell, Patrick and Karen Galivan of Franklinton; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister Cheryl Sass of Chalmette.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Maranto Galivan, parents Roland Galivan and Catherine Boudreaux Galivan, a sister Patricia Galivan Sporl and other family members.

A funeral mass was held for his family on Friday December 18th at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Kyle Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Spencer Cemetery.

The family requests that donations be made for the Celebration of Mass in his name or charitable donations of your choice.
