Louis Darnell Brumfield

December 31, 1954 - November 30, 2020

“If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.” Job 14:14 KJV

On the morning of November 29, 2020, Louis Darnell Brumfield passed away at the age of 65 at home with his sister.

Louis is the second born child of Fred and Elizabeth Brumfield, born on December 31, 1954.

Louis grew up attending Antioch Church of Christ Holiness USA in Bogalusa, LA. He later joined Faith Bible Church in Covington, LA.

Louis was educated through the Bogalusa School System and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1972. Louis was affectionately known by his classmates as “Sax.” A name he gained by playing the saxophone in the band during his school days at Bogalusa High School. He later attended Southern University of Baton Rouge, LA for several years. He later moved to New Orleans, LA where he was employed by NASA. Life then lead him to move to Houston, TX where he worked on several construction sites for many years before finally moving back to his hometown.

Louis loved his family. You could often find him praying with any family member that was in the hospital or even home ill. He was loved by his family and friends, gaining the nicknames “Uncle Donny” and “Mighty Nine.”

Louis leaves to cherish his memories, one brother, Fred Bryan (Cora) Brumfield of Franklinton, LA; his sisters, Debra Morris Tate of Bogalusa, LA, Mamie Clay of New Orleans, LA, Melissa Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister-in-law, Alicia Fields Brumfield; a namesake he loved as his own son, Joshua Darnell Smith; two aunts, Ella Mae Carr of Chicago, Il, Bernice Hill of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Louis is preceded on death by his parents, Fred and Elizabeth Brumfield; maternal grandparents, Red and Sadie Thomson; and paternal grandparents, Fred and Hattie Brumfield.

A Drive Through Viewing will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 4, 2020 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The Funeral Service will be at 3:30 PM on December 5, 2020 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
