Obituary

Joel Gilbert Hill

August 13, 1947 - December 23, 2020

Joel Gilbert Hill, age 73 and a resident of Franklinton, died early Wednesday morning December 23, 2020 at his daughter’s home. He was retired after a long career with Washington Correctional Institute. Joel was a longtime member of Mt. Hermon Pentecostal Church that also attended other churches in the area through the years. He enjoyed carpentry and small remodeling projects and he loved to go fishing in his pond. Joel always had a wonderful sense of humor and loved joking with his family and grandchildren all the way to end. He will be forever missed by all those that knew him.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Shane and Elizabeth Hill of Ponchatoula; Daughter and Son in law: Kasey and David Brown of Mt. Hermon; 6 Grandchildren and a Spouse: Chris and Barbara Hill, Shawn Hill, Sydnei Tullos, Keyton Varnado, Clayton Brown, Allison Brown; Brothers and a Sister in law: His twin, Jim and Margie Hill of Madison, MS, Devoy Hill of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his daughter LaChelle Hill, wife Linda Jenkins Hill, mother and step-father Minnie Passman Hill Brumfield and Glindon Brumfield, father and step-mother Oree Hill and Wilda Stephens Hill, sister Janell Jenkins, sister in law Jeri Hill, niece Shanna Gail Hill and nephew Eric Magee.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday December 26th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Randall Garcia and Rev. Jim Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Stateline United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
