Franklinton Mayor and Aldermen Sworn Into Office

The Town of Franklinton had their recently elected Mayor and Aldermen sworn into office yesterday (December 29, 2020) at the Fairgrounds in Franklinton. Marsha Newman was emcee for the event. Washington Parish native and Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Will Crain administered the oaths of office (beginning at 8:50 into the video) to Mayor Gregory Route and Aldermen T.J. Butler, Darwin Sharp, Heath Spears, Patrice Crain, and Seth Descant.

The office-holders bring with them a ton of experience. Mayor Route has served in public offices for 12 years, including as Alderman and Parish Councilman; Butler, the Dean of the Board of Aldermen) has served as Alderman for 20 years; Sharp has served in public offices for 36 years; Spears has served as Alderman for 8 years, and Crain has served as Alderman for 4 years. Descant, the only new face among the Aldermen, previously served as President of the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce.
