Amite Police Chief Jerry Trabona is reporting the shooting death of Arkejen Freeman, age 22 and from
Arcola. Trabona said officers responded to the 400 block of 3rd Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday (September 21, 2020) and discovered the victim, who had been shot once in the torso with a .22 caliber weapon. Freeman was taken to Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite where he later died.
Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting, but they are searching for a male juvenile who is a person of interest in this case.
