Obituary

Irene Cooper Corkern
November 3, 1929 - July 18, 2020



Irene Cooper Corkern, age 90 and a resident of Franklinton died peacefully at home Saturday night July 18, 2020. She was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church that truly loved the Lord and her church family. She operated Linwood’s Restaurant, along with her husband and family, for over 20 years. Irene loved fishing and gardening. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends every chance that she could. Irene was always a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by 4 Sons and Daughters in law: Jimmy and Diane Bickham of Franklinton, Jerry and Shannon Bickham of Pine, Hayes and Ruby Bickham of Franklinton, Tommy and Candy Burnett of Arkansas; Grandchildren and Spouses: Jerry Bickham, II, Jason and Cindy Bickham, Craig and Melissa Bickham, Tommy and Melanie Bickham, Kimberly and Kenny Hartzog, James Bickham, Nikki and Zach Easterling; 16 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great-grandchild; 4 Sisters: Vivian Smith, Ruby Graves, Mildred Leathers, Patricia Shapiro; Brother and Sister in law: Walter and Betty Cooper; 2 Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Vermell and Joe Reid, Paulette Sanders; Also numerous nieces, nephews, her beloved church family and many friends.

She was preceded in death recently by her husband of 53 years Linwood Corkern, her daughter Judy Bickham Erwin, grandsons Scott Erwin, Clint Bickham, parents Alton Cooper and Earnestine Hunt Cooper, sisters Beatrice Jenkins, Inez Passman, brothers Claude Cooper, Alton James Cooper, Mike Cooper, Bruce Cooper and other family members.

A graveside funeral service will be held in the Acy’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm Tuesday July 21st with Eld. Edward Penton officiating.

Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
