Franklinton Police Will Not Issue "No Mask" Citations

Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown has advised the following:

"The Franklinton Police Department will not be issuing citations to people not wearing masks. If and when the Louisiana State Legislature passes a law mandating the wearing of masks, our oath of office would then be supported in doing so; with discretion. Business owners are responsible for who they permit to enter their businesses. Regarding medical exemptions for wearing masks, we have no legal authority to require a person to disclose such exemption. In short, we are not the mask police however we encourage you to be a "good neighbor."

This apparently in response to the Gov. John Bel Edwards announced a mandatory mask requirement, effective July 13, 2020. (See http://www.mthermonwebtv.com/2020/07/gov-edwards-orders-statewide-mask.html)
