Thomas Gerald Welch
April 16, 1932 - June 24, 2020



Thomas Gerald Welch, age 88 and a resident of the Richardson Community, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning June 24, 2020 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital with his family by his side. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War era that served his country proudly. Gerald was retired as a Safety Inspector after a long career with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. After retirement, he enjoyed working on the farm with his son, gardening and baling hay. He was forever guided in life by his trust and faith in the Lord. Gerald was a longtime deacon, Sunday School teacher, and leader at Bethel Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church for many years. He was one who looked for the best in others and always gave the best he had. Gerald was a devoted husband to the love of his life for 67 years as well as a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survived by: Wife: Helen Creel Welch; Son and Daughter in law: Randy and Cindy Welch; Daughter and Son in law: Terri and Billy Brignac; Grandchildren and Spouses: Tracy and Terry Turner, Mandy and Wesley Eubanks, Kyle Goetting; Great-grandchildren: Hunter Turner, Kaylee Turner, Will Turner, Alana Byrd, Sarah Eubanks; Brothers and Sisters in law: Hollis and Barbara Welch, Michael and Sue Welch; Brothers in law and Sister in law: Charley and Sharron Creel, Fred Hoggatt; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his infant twin sons, parents McCauley Welch and Audie Lee Welch, brother Sidney Ray Welch, sister and brother in law Lanell and Ray Martin, father in law and mother in law Houston and Eula Creel, sister in law Betty Josephine Hoggatt.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday June 26th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Friday. Burial with military honors will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
