Harry Lloyd Hayden
February 08, 1942 - June 23, 2020



Harry Lloyd Hayden, age 78, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Lloyd was born in New Orleans, and resided in Arcola, LA. He attended Amite High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 4 years. He loved telling stories about his service on the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Oriskany CVA-34. He met and fell in love with the love of his life and they married after he completed his service. They lived in Houston, Texas where his daughter, Terry his yellow rose of Texas was born. After 3 years they moved back to Louisiana where he went to work for Exxon Chemical until he retired in 1999 after 30 years of service. He then became a private investigator for the Louisiana board of Contractors. He loved his church family dearly and was a deacon of First Baptist Church in Kentwood and also taught the Seekers Sunday School Class, whom he loved very much. He enjoyed his retirement and taking his family on vacations. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughters, Rondi and Norah Kate. They were the light of his life. He loved people and never met a stranger. He was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many.

Lloyd leaves behind his wife of 56 years Alcyon Hayden. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 29th; his daughter, Terry Hayden Garner; granddaughter Rondi Garner Booty and spouse, Jonathan Booty; He also leaves behind his sidekick and partner in crime his great-granddaughter, Norah Kate Booty; He is also survived by his brother, Robert Michael Hayden (Patricia) of Arcola, LA and a sister, Beverly Hull (Perry) of Prairieville, LA and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Pharies and Daphana Little Hayden; a sister, Irma Lee Crenshaw and brother, Grady Pharies (Butch) Hayden, Jr.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Kentwood on Saturday, June 27th from 10:00AM until 12:00PM until religious services. Burial will be at Tangipahoa Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dan Kilcrease, Mike Estay, Johnie Booty, Troy Vernon, Cody Little and Micah Little.

McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.
