Lavell Crain
November 19, 1937 - May 16, 2020



Lavell Crain, a long-time resident of Bogalusa, passed away on May 16, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA, at the age of 82. 

He is survived by two daughters, Cecilia (Ed) Blackwell and Sharon (James Ray) Creel, daughter-in-law Sedean Mizell Crain, former wife and mother of his children Winifred (Joe) Johnson, former wife and friend Sylvia Crain Toney and sons Duane Nobles and Christopher Nobles. Brothers, H.L. (Charlene) Crain, Arnold “Pete” (Brenda) Crain and Louis Ray “Luke” (Lisa) Crain.  Sisters-In-law Betty Crain, Carol Baughman, Sylvia Johnson, Gloria Lupo and Brother-in-law Jesse (Sarah) Williams.  Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Lavell Crain, Parents Van Nick (Isabel) Crain, Sisters Eurena (Curt) Stogner, Eva Mae (Julious) Miley, Athalee (Merion) Williams, and Azzie Crain. Brothers Hubert (Elgie) Crain, Bufford Crain, Eufford (Claire) Crain, Houston Crain, and Brother-in-law Allen Johnson.

A graveside celebration of Pop’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, (where social distancing can be applied), with Bro. Fred Brumfield officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home.

In Lavell’s Honor, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to a Covid 19 Research Charity, an Alzheimer’s Research Charity, do random acts of kindness to someone in need, or simply help a friend.
