Obituary

Betty Loving Braden
August 29, 1939 - May 09, 2020

Betty Loving Braden died peacefully on May 9, 2020 with her husband Jim by her side.  Betty was born on August 29, 1939 and was a native and resident of Kentwood, Louisiana.

She graduated from Vine Grove Consolidated High School in Vine Grove, Kentucky and then proudly from the Charity Hospital School of Nursing located in New Orleans.  Betty loved being a nurse and she worked in several hospitals including Greensburg and Lallie Kemp Hospital.  She also taught many nursing students at the St. Helena College and Career Academy.

Betty is preceded in death by her beloved parents George and Louella Loving and her younger sister Carol Loving McNabb.

She is survived by her husband James “Jim” Braden, her children James Braden and his wife Joey, Kelly Thorgeson and her husband Rudy, and Joseph “Beau” Braden.  Betty was also survived by her four grandchildren Jacob, Johanna, and Jonah Braden and Alayna Braden all of whom she loved, doted on, and was so very proud of.  They thought she was the best Maw Maw any grandchild could ask for.

The family wishes to thank all of her caregivers and the North Oaks Hospital staff who allowed family visitation during this difficult time.

Because of the current conditions, there will be a private visitation at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, Louisiana followed by a graveside service at New Zion Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in the name of Betty Loving Braden to the Charity Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, 450 S. Claiborne Ave. New Orleans, Louisiana.
