Obituary

Willie Anthony
March 10, 1932 - April 22, 2020



Willie Anthony was born March 10, 1932 to the union of Estus and Beulah Anthony of Franklinton,  La.  He attended school in Franklinton,  La. Willie  departed this life on April 22, 2020 at 12:45pm at Ochsner hospital on Jefferson Hwy.

He was married to his beloved wife of 67 years; Wilda McClain Anthony of Franklinton,  La. They moved to New Orleans  and reared their children. To their union were 6 daughters; Betty Robinson ( Bonnie Ray/deceased), Sandranett Whitaker ( Ervin), Wilda Faye Cooley (Charles), Barbara Williams ( Donny), Patricia Jiles, Corinthia Files ( James) and 3 sons; Willie Anthony II, Lionel Anthony,  and Micheal Kevin Anthony (deceased). They had 14 grandchildren  ( 1 deceased)and 2 great grandchildren. 

Willie worked at Bob Himbert parking lot and retired after 38 yrs of service there.

He loved the Lord. He gave his life to Christ as a young man and upon moving to New Orleans he joined Mt. Moriah Baptist church under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Alja  Meyers, and then the late Pastor Neal, Pastor Donald Robinson Jr., Pastor Albert Stewart and Pastor Cyril  Grayson,  Sr. ; who is the pastor at Mt. Moriah Baptist church presently of whom my father has worked under for the past 8 years. He was very devoted to the Lord. He loved his church  family and his pastor. He served as an usher for 62 years.  He was faithful at standing at his post until  his death.  He never wanted to miss a Sunday from church. It took something really important for him to miss a Sunday. He shall be greatly missed by his church family. 

Willie was a very humble man. He loved his family and was a hardworking man and took great care of his wife and family. He always taught his children, "never treat people the way they treat you, you always be better than that."

 He  was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Michael,  1 grandson Willie Anthony  III,  3 brothers : Jim, Shelton and Mervin and 3 sisters: Rosalyn, Hynetha and Ollie.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Wilda, 2 sisters; Mary Partman and Jeanette Hart of Franklinton,  La. ,1 sister in law Burnell McClain of Franklinton,  La., his 8 children, grandchildren, great grandchildren,  and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Willie was greatly loved by his family and friends.  He shall truly be missed. The family wish to thank the  staff at Ochsner Hospital Main Campus, Cook and Richmond Funeral services, Bethel church of Franklinton, Pastor Cyril  Grayson, Sr.(Officiating Service),  of Mt. Moriah Baptist  church all the Mt. Moriah  Baptist church family and everyone for all the prayers and love. 

Take your rest  Daddy! You shall be missed!
