Ada Mae Patterson-Horton
March 05, 1946 - April 14, 2020



Ada Mae Patterson-Horton was born on March 5, 1946 to the late Willie and Ora Patterson in Pike County, Mississippi. She departed this life on April 14, 2020 at St. Tammany Parish hospital in Covington, La.

She loved social gatherings with family and friends. She had a mission minded heart and was willing to help anyone at anytime. She found joy in taking care of others while she fostered "Many" children for over twenty years. Some of her many passions were cooking, Patterson-Horton Retreat Center, Second Harvest Food Bank, Intercessory prayer, bible band, hospitality, nursing home ministry, hospital ministry, Mother's Board, and she loved to travel. There was never a dull moment when she was around.

She began her Christian journey at Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Hackley, La. She attended 3rd Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA, Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church and Greater Friendship Church of God in Christ. She shared her membership with both St. John Temple Church of God in Christ and Ecclesia Family Church under the leadership of her son-in-law, Pastor Esco E. Burton I and her son, Pastor Garin T. James I.

She leaves to celebrate her life and continued legacy four children, Treana (Esco) James-Burton, Rev. Renee' James-Simon, Garin (Aloma) James, and Waltress (Michelle) James;10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren,19 blended grandchildren; two brothers, Johnny Patterson and Alton(Sadie) Patterson; three sisters, Audrey Smith, Melba Kagler, Lottie (Peter) Meuchelboeck and sister-in-law, Jeanette Patterson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband Jefferson "Sonny Boy" Horton; her parents, Willie and Ora Patterson;  four brothers, Robert Patterson, Herbert Patterson, William Patterson and Richard Patterson; six sisters; Lillian Brown, Thelma Merrell, Iristean Hart, Vianne Patterson, Verlean Vortice and Geraldine Thompson.

A private graveside will be held at The Patterson Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
