The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as a Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on LA 440, exited off the roadway and impacted a culvert along with a tree. Brumfield and Coleman received fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on the crash scene.
At this time, the driver of the Impala remains under investigation. Another occupant sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology will be performed on Brumfield and Coleman.
