Speed is Factor in Slidell Fatal Crash

On Tuesday, March 3, 2020 shortly before 7:00 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single-vehicle, fatal crash on Interstate 10 East Entrance Ramp at LA 433 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 71-year-old Jesse Q. Sewell IV of Slidell.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Sewell was traveling westbound on LA 433 merging onto the I-10 East Entrance Ramp. For reasons still under investigation, Sewell’s vehicle exited off the roadway and impacted a tree. Despite Sewell wearing a seatbelt, he received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the crash scene. The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Speed is considered a contributing factor in the crash and impairment is not suspected.
