Amite Woman Dies in Tangipahoa Parish Crash

On Friday, March 20, 2020 shortly before 1:00 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L
responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on I-55 near LA 40 in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 53-year-old Michelle C. Hilton of Amite.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Hilton was driving a Kia Soul northbound on I-55 in the left lane. Hilton’s vehicle struck the rear-end of a trailer attached to a Chevrolet Silverado HD pickup truck also traveling north on Interstate 55 in the left lane. Despite wearing a seat belt, Hilton received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was wearing a seat belt and uninjured.
