Robert Lawrence Hicks
November 15, 1948 - February 11, 2020


“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.” 2 Timothy 4:6

Robert “Rob” Lawrence Hicks was born on November 15, 1948 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Valeira “Jack” Hicks and the late Robert “Bob” Hicks. Rob departed this life peacefully at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital on February 11, 2020.

Rob leaves to cherish his life: his wife, Marilyn Hicks; eight children, Kiley Kilbourne of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Keela (Eugene) Burdis and Keeda Hicks of Prairieville, Louisiana, Diamond Hicks of Seattle, Washington, Rodrick (Keisha) Alexander of Harvey, Louisiana, Roderick (Daphine) Robinson of Gulfport, Mississippi, Tina Robinson of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and Madeline Martin of Grand Prairie, Texas; his mother, Valeira “Jack” Hicks; three brothers: Charles Hicks of Washington, D.C., Gregory (Gloria) Hicks and Darryl (Sharon) Robertson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister, Barbara (Matthew) Collins of Bogalusa, Louisiana; two aunts, Carol Burris of Avondale, Louisiana and Bernice Walker of New Orleans, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Morgan and Marynell Carson of Bogalusa, Louisiana and two brothers-in-law, Nevel Carson, Jr. of Bogalusa, Louisiana and Maurice Smith of Baltimore, Maryland; his ten grandchildren, Cameron Burdis, Chayson Burdis, Karson Duncan, Amaya Robinson, Nylan Alexander, Kamerin Alexander, JaRoderick Robinson, Acelynn Robinson, Mason Robinson, Roderick Robinson II; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Hicks; his sister, Valeria “Pena” Smith; and two dear friends, Melvin Torrence, and Henry “Shrimp” Mims.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 from 12:00PM until 2:00PM with funeral to follow at 2:00PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 837 E. 7th Street, Bogalusa, Louisiana with Rev. Christoper Matthews, pastor officiating. Interment to follow at Bogalusa Cemetery.
