Margie Pope
May 21, 1924 - February 4, 2020



Margie Pope, age 95 and a resident of Franklinton, died Tuesday evening February 4, 2020 at her daughter’s home. She had a long career as a bookkeeper, first in Baton Rouge, then for Smith and Smith, Inc. in Franklinton for many years. Margie loved traveling when she could and always liked to visit with her friends at the Council on Aging in Pine. She attended the Sheridan Jesus Name Holiness Church near her home. Margie was always a loving wife and mother and wonderful grandmother that will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Survived by: 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Ann and Tommy Riley, Joy Nielson all of Franklinton; 3 Grandchildren: Josh Jones and Kellie, Sean Thomas and Ester, Cade Thomas; Great-grandchildren and Spouses: Kristian Boyette, T.J. and Heather Thomas, Gage and Chelsea Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Reese Thomas, Aileese Thomas, Deneese Thomas, Amber and Savanah; Great-great-grandchildren: Tatum Boyette, Brandon Gage Thomas, Sophia Thomas, McKenna Thomas, Addie Thomas, Kadence Thomas, Riley Thomas; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Pope, daughter Marilyn June Pope Lowery, parents Merton Lowe and Lillian Lang Lowe, an infant daughter, 2 infant sons, sisters Tot LeRay, Beatrice Schoonmaker.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday February 15th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in the funeral chapel at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles Ray Creel and Rev. Bo Dickson officiating. She will be laid to rest privately, alongside her family, in the Simmons/Lang Cemetery near her home.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans (Attn: Development Department, 200 Henry Clay Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118) or by using their website at chnola.org.
