Obituary

Robert James Moses
February 15, 1931 - February 10, 2020



Brother Robert James Moses was called to rest on February 10, 2020.  He was  born February 15, 1931 to Robert T. Moses and Beatrice Moses.

"Baby Ray" attended Wesley Ray High School where he graduated and soon after joined the army.  After serving two years in the military, he then went on to become the third African American Sheriff in Washington Parish. Robert James Moses was a reliable, hard worker and it showed with his 43 years of being a Gaylord employee, where he retired.

Robert J. Moses married the late Claudia Mae Moses and from this union three children were born. He was a member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church where he remained until his death.  He was a member of the Usher Board and the United Methodist Men Mission Tribe#2.

He leaves his undying memories to his two sons; Barnett (Katherine) Moses of Semmes, AL; Golden Ootsey, Jr. of Angie, LA; one daughter; Cynthia (Golden Ootsey, Sr.) of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister Willow Faye Owens of Hammond, LA; one god-child, Tiphanie Lewis of Angie, LA; Eleven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Mae Moses; his parents, Beatrice and Robert T. Moses; two sisters, Gloria Dean Moses-Pigott and Joyce Moses Dixon; one brother Calvin Moses.

"Baby Ray" has finally made it. He is now at home.

Services will be at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, Louisiana on February 15, 2020. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and the Funeral will be at 11:00 AM.
