James "Candy Man" Magee
August 1, 1948 - February 4, 2020



James "Candy Man" Magee, age 71 and a resident of Franklinton, died Tuesday morning February 4, 2020 at his home. He was affectionately called Candy Man by all those that knew him well, a nickname he’s had since childhood. James worked for many years on the tug boats of the Mississippi River. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Especially, rabbit hunting with his beagles. James enjoyed mowing yards for people, and frequently donated his time to the elderly in his community to help get their yards cleaned up. He also enjoyed watching his favorite old western TV shows and movies.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and a Son in law: Shirley Cox, Lynette and Lawrence Chain, Jamie King; 7 Grandchildren and Spouses: T.J. Cox, Shane and Sam Cox, Brandy and David Merritt, Morgan Cox, Samantha Cox, Hannah King, Tyler King; Great-grandchildren: Shane Cox, Jr., Jason Cox, Katherine Merritt, Wyatt Merritt, James Merritt, Emma Knight, Olivia Cox, Allison Cox, Baby James Cox; 4 Brothers and Sisters in law: Larry and Kay Magee, Tommy and Teresa Magee, Floyd and Vivian Magee, Tony Magee; 5 Sisters and Brothers in law: Pat and J.D. Warren, Bobbie and Charles Thomas, Peggy and Keith Thomas, Sharon and Randy Crain, Betty and Gerald Rodriguez; Special Friends: Kathy Dunaway and Doris Patridge; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents James “Adnell” Magee and Margie Jones Magee, brother Kelvin Magee, sister Renae Terrell and son in law Dana Cox.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday February 6th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Friday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Friday with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. Adam Luper officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox/Magee Family Cemetery.
