Vicky Lynn McComas Ferguson
January 29, 2020

Vicky Lynn McComas Ferguson, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, January 29, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA following a long, brave battle with ovarian cancer.
She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, honesty, thrift and often dry, but deep, sense of humor.

A native of Elk City, Oklahoma, Vicky was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. A retired Registered Nurse who worked with plastic surgeons in Oklahoma City and New Orleans, she was valued as a knowledgeable professional whose talents with needle and thread were unsurpassed. She had been a resident of the Byrd’s Chapel community of Carriere, MS for a number of years.

Vicky was preceded in death by her dear mother, Betty Elwanda McComas of Elk City, OK and Carriere, MS; her father, Bill McComas of Elk City, OK; brother, Nick McComas of Eufala, OK; beloved nephew, Kolby Lankford of Vacaville, CA; and of course our “Favorite Aunts” Erdene B. Jones of Sayre, OK, and Jimmie Sims Stockstill of Byrd’s Chapel.

She is survived by her husband, Don Ferguson of Byrd’s Chapel; daughter, Tonya Boggess of McEwen, TN; sons Ian (Kelsey Kitch) Ferguson, MD, of Tacoma, WA, and Jacob Ferguson, BSEE of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Bryndon Boggess of Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Arnold “Pete” Lankford of Lawton, OK; father- and mother-in law, Gil and June Ferguson of Byrd’s Chapel; sister-in-law Karen (Richard) Strahan of Poplarville, MS and their children Brandy (Anthony) Hardin, Chris (Rebecca) Strahan and Raymond Strahan; brother-in-law Scott (Marsha Johnson) Ferguson of New Orleans and their children Bankston Brady and Emily Bess; nephew Kris (Megan) Lankford of Chicago, IL and their sons, Kayden, Landon and Mayson; niece Claire Lankford of Vacaville, CA; niece Crystal (Chuck) Bailey of Oklahoma City and their children, Burke and Brylee; cousins Brenda Troyani of Pearl River, LA and Lynn Conally of Dallas, TX; and many other relatives and friends far and near whom she sincerely loved.

Per her wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Remains will be interred at Byrd’s Chapel, MS and Elk City, OK.

Respectful of her practicality, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, or the charity/scholarship fund of your choice.
