Obituary

Mary Ausama
January 11, 1932 - January 14, 2020



Mary C. Ausama, resident of Franklinton, La and a former resident or New Orleans, La departed her earthly life on Tuesday January 14, 2020.

Mary was a member of Hartzel UMC pastored by Rev. Clark, after returning to her hometown, she joined Winan UMC, where she remained until her death under the leadership of Pastor Anise Moses.

After graduating from Washington Training school, she received her bachelor's degree in education from Southern University Baton Rouge...after graduating from college, she moved to Slidell La where she taught briefly, and later moved to New Orleans, LA. There she taught 3rd and 4th grade at Bienvenue Elementary. Mary taught for 32 in the Orleans parish school system before retiring.

Mary was a lady of class and dignity and helped all she loved, she was greatly loved by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her Aunt, Rosie Brown; nieces, Olivia (Ann) Cuffee, Lynette Chappell-Williams, Romelda Moore; nephews; Mark Magee, Clifford Wayne Lewis, Roy Lewis, Jr., Major L Chappell, Jr., Kevin Chappell; A great niece, whom was also her Godchild and Caregiver, Jessica L. Burkhalter; as well as a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, Leander and Jessie Bell Chappell; set of twins, a brother, Lt. Col. Major Lee Chappell, Sr.; sisters, Gladys C. Magee, Luberta Partman, Hilda Lewis; two nephews Keith Magee, Sr., and Woody P. Magee, Jr.; a great nephew, Quintin L. Magee; and a special friend Clayton "Willie" Crawford.

Visitation held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM followed by Funeral Service at 12:00PM at Winan United Methodist Church, 622 18th Ave, Franklinton, LA 70438, Rev. Anise Moses, Pastor Officiating. Interment at Winan Church Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton in charge of arrangements.
