Carolyn Sue Jones
October 12, 1961 - January 14, 2020
Carolyn Sue Jones, age 58 and a resident of Franklinton, died early Tuesday morning January 14, 2020 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a graduate of Franklinton High School then obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Fred I. Jones, and they returned to Franklinton to do good things for their hometown. Carolyn’s service to her community lasted 35 years while she worked at Bowling Green School, Folsom Elementary School and for many years at Franklinton Elementary School, where she currently taught 5th grade math, science and social studies. She loved teaching and was always passionate about the growth in learning that her students achieved. Carolyn was thankful for the opportunity to mentor a new group of young children each year and cared deeply for her coworkers and friends. She was always cheerful, optimistic, generous and kind to her students and everyone she met. Carolyn was a nearly lifelong member of Hillcrest Baptist Church that throughout her life held and unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Survived by: Daughter and Son in law: Ashley Amanda Jones and Donald Jones of Lake Charles; Son: Spencer Alan Jones of Franklinton; Mother: Hellen Elizabeth Brister Bonin of Moody, AL; Father: Malcolm Houston Savage of Empire, LA; Sister and Brother in law: Catherine Savage Brindley and Richard Brindley of Baton Rouge; Brother: Malcolm Kelly Savage and Kay Hollingshead of Odenville, AL; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Gerald and Evelyn Jones of Franklinton, Eric and Janet Jones of Covington; Nieces, Nephews and their Spouses: Jessica Sims, Jeremy and Sawsan Sims, Darren and Shannon Jones, Ryan and Tracy Jones, Jacqueline and Clay Popham, Brett and Ashlee Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Megan Savage Ingram and Floyd Ingram, John F. Short, III, Brandon Savage, Alexandra C. Friloux; Also numerous other family members and many dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by her sister Connie Elizabeth Savage and a nephew Gregory M. Short.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday January 18th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Dr. Gene Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Bonner Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
