Latimore Edward Smith, age 74 and a resident of Independence, died at 4:59AM Sunday, December 8, 2019 at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington. He was a longtime truck driver with the CB handle “Big Wheel”. He enjoyed racing cars and working on them also. He loved to ride motorcycles.
Survived by: Wife: Cindy Leonard Smith of Independence; 5 Daughters: Glenda Smith of Franklinton, Lenda Smith of Hammond, Melissa Holmes of Galliano, Amber Alpha, Susan Gardiner both of Independence; Son: Warren Alpha, Jr. of Erath; Grandchildren: Cody Stricklan, Daniel Keating, Judy Anderson, Shelby Lynn Magee, Mason Holmes, Kadon Loupe, Tyron Loupe, Tristany Matherne; Great grandchildren: Kadence Gros, Dakota Smith, Nyjah Stricklan, Nolen Stricklan, Emma Sue Keating, Addie Keating; Brother: Kendall Smith of Franklinton
He was preceded in death by his parents Dewitt and Lillie Keating Smith, 2 sisters Lucy Barber and Neline McKenzie.
Visitation will begin after 10 AM Thursday, December 12, 2019 with a funeral service to be held at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Ray Creel officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
