Obituary

Edwin Jay Burris
September 18, 1956 - November 30, 2019



And God shall wipe all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away.  Rev:4

Edwin Jay Burris was born on September 18, 1956 to the late Rayford and Wylene M. Burris in Bogalusa, LA. and was the oldest of 5 Children.

Edwin graduated in 1974 from Bogalusa High School and enlisted in the  United States Navy.  After serving in the Navy for three years, Edwin made San Diego, CA. his home.  In 1993 Edwin returned home to Bogalusa.  Edwin worked with the State of Louisiana as a Postal Worker and as a Correction Officer. In his spare time he also called Bingo.

Edwin leaves to cherish his memories a sister: Gretchen (Larry) Brown; Two brothers; Timothy Burris and Rayfield (Sharyl) Burris all of Bogalusa, La Two ladies he considered as his sisters; Regina Greely and Barbara Ann Jacobs, a special uncle, Royan Burris.

Edwin had no children of his own, but his nieces and nephews became his children; Kimberly J. (Bobby) Showers, Sharrod Darden, Tonnica Penton, Rashawn Roberts, Rainey Morris, Chris ( Shardee) Greely, Tarrik Roberts, Justin (Kennia) Brown, Edderick Penton, Sara Brown, Stasha Burris,Cassie Brown, Rayfield Burris, Allskin Millican, and special great nephew, Justin KJ Brown along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents;  Rayford and Wylene Burris and one sister Kimberly Burris.
