This morning (November 8, 2019) just before 11 AM, acting on the tip from a fellow student,
Mandeville Jr. High Administration and the Mandeville Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) recovered a handgun from a 13-year-old white male who is in the 7th grade. The 7th grader reportedly made threatening comments directed towards our SRO.
The weapon is recovered and there are no credible threats to any of the students, staff, or School Resource Officers at this time.
MPD Chief Gerald Sticker advises the juvenile has been charged with Carrying a Firearm on School Property/ Firearm Free Zone and will be booked into Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
